Project Summary

This project will investigate the feasibility of optimizing a newly proposed AMFC single cell into an educational kit for high school and college level laboratory fuel cell functional demonstration. For that, a previously developed cellulose-based AMFC prototype will be studied and modified. The methodology will consist of redesigning the fuel and oxidant delivery components (flow channels) to optimize the kit performance. The proposed kit, will contain all necessary parts for independent operation. It is expected that the kit will allow the students to test the effects of flow configuration on fuel cell performance, and as such the kit should contain “bipolar plates” with different flow structures.
